Artist's Comments

Well while i was brainstorming about how i would like my new sleeves to look (and fit) I realized that the old trim on my dress is severely fraying. So..i decided to change a few things on the final look of my dress.

Of course i had to draw it out so i could see if the ideas in my brain worked well when actually applied. The red part of the dress will be much darker than it shows in the picture (deep dark red).

Please give me suggestions, i would rather change things now while it's still on paper so i wont' have a "final final final" re-design of this dress. Here it is as it stands.. [link]

Also, I'm at a loss for headwear. I don't want to just wear the caul (way too much squinting..) top hat, flat cap, help me decide! ^.^

I like the punch of burgundy. Hmmm, let me think today about hats. Are there any styles that you either don't like or have already done a ton of?

Well i have a black tall hat, but if i wear that i'll have to make a new caul, which is okay, it'll just have to be out of a lighter fabric. other than that, i'm really just wondering what would look best. i'm not against any i can think of..they really all look great ^.^ The only hat i've ever done was the tall hat. I did make a flat cap but it didn't turn out right, though if i remade that one, i know what i did wrong so it would be okay.

i'm glad you like the burgundy. That was the color name i was thinking of but couldn't remember...so "dark red" had to do. It was risky for me..i like safe colors, so i hope this brings me out a little for more varity.

For now why don't you use your tall hat. What about a burgundy caul? It would be another way to tie in that fabric. BTW, scary thought, we open in three weeks! Also I'm on queen duty opening day so if you're headed out it isn't going to be a good day to hang out.

You know, a burgundy caul was one of my ideas but i thought different of it and went with the teal one in the sketch. I think you're right, and that way it'll be easy and i can take my time experimenting with hats...since i'm not very good at making them yet. ^.^

Oh opening weekend i unfortunately won't be there...but fortunately since i won't get to see you then huh? ^_^..i think we're planing on the 28th of july. Ohh!! i'm so excited for it to start!! I wish i could of participated this year, but ah well..at least next year you'll have had the experience and then you can help me out! Mwhahahah!

Queen duty huh? What does that all entail?

I'll shoot you a message detailing duty. I'm also on duty on the 29th. My folks are also planning on being there on the 28th so I specifically asked for that off. I think you could bring in your trims on the hat and dress it up with a reall snazzy hatband.

My parents just enjoy watching. They think this thing I do is interesting, but they don't understand it. The big joke is as long as dad gets his turkey leg and his beer no one gets hurt. ;) They would come up and say hi and chat a bit, but that is all. I doubt they would even do the whole day.

LOL Bristol's food is how i orginally got my Fiance into it. I'd bribe him. Alrighty 28th it is. And that gives me a lot of breathing room to finish my gown.
